I grew up in
the car business and sold cars for 17 years starting at age 19. I learned I loved meeting
new people and helping customers. It was always a pleasure to help them get
their new vehicles, but I was still lacking that feeling of truly helping
someone. “They” always say do what you love, and it is not even considered
working. Well, the question remained how can I help large quantities of people,
make a dollar and feel good about the service I provide yet be meaningful?
Finally, it occurred to me, I should start a roadside assistance & towing business to provide a direct way of giving actual help to people in the community and surrounding
areas. Since then, I found that missing piece in my life and finally knew what
it was I wanted to do for a career. Since I began this new chapter and challenge it
has been one of the most gratifying things I have been able to do so far.
Assisting customers who are in true need of help is very fulfilling!
Let's face it, changing a tire isn't a glamourous corporate position and it
never will be, but having the ability to drop what I am doing at that moment
helps keep me grounded, selfless, and humble. Which in turn, it is as if I am
hoping to spread an untold message to others, "this is how we all should
be to our fellow man". This life isn't for everyone, Imagine working hard 2 hours before the sun came up through the entire day until about 9pm that evening for a total of 16-17 hours. You drove 427 miles that
day, changed 5 flat tires, delivered fuel to one customer, and helped two other
customers get their vehicles unlocked. During the down time you managed to update your computer logs, break down your expenses for the week, pay bills, and file some receipts . Your phone has now stopped ringing. Worn out from another long day, the thought of a warm shower and clean clothes seem amazing right about now. You make a decision to get a
warm shower, put on fresh clothes, and then relax on the sofa. You are 30 minutes into a good movie, then your phone rings, someone needs your
service, and they are a hour away on the dark interstate, it is raining, and 37
degrees outside. It is time to make a real decision, do you go help these
people that are stranded in a dangerous spot or do you let them sit and hope the
next guy will help them promptly versus at his leisure? Although you have put the time and work in
for the day, you are clean, and you deserve downtime as well, right? Not me,
rest assured if I am available, I am coming to help anytime day or night. That is what separates me and my company Roadside-Pro 24/7 roadside assistance & towing apart from the other guys that claim to be 24/7. I do not have a
set sleep schedule; I just take naps when I can during the day or night in
between calls to make myself available for you and your loved ones out here
stranded each day. That smile and sigh of relief from the customer upon arrival
makes it worthwhile every time. Then the sincere gratitude they have expressed once I
have completed the job and the customer is safe to travel to work or home and they tell me that the service and experience I am giving to my customers is meaningful. Those few moments of
getting to know a stranger and a little about them is always nice, especially knowing when we part ways it's as if I made another friend. Maybe I did or maybe
I didn't, but what I do know is they got the best experience from me that I
could provide at that time!
